God is Love!

Found a cool video by one of my favorite Christian Bands…Michael Gungor Band.  The song is called “White Man”.  Simple, easy, concept.  Enjoy!

Food for thought…

Don’t you love it when God deals with you…constantly.  As of late, that’s the case with me.  I’ve been super-wrapped up in turning up my “spiritual ears”, as some people would say.  Sometimes it seems that we as believers have spiritual earplugs.  :D   Christians should always be listening to for what God is wanting to say to us.

While driving to work the other day, I was thinking of all of the events that have transpired throughout the year.  All the things that went on in our lives this year…happy, sad, times of rejoicing, times of lament, times of confusion.  All in all, the year has been an adventure, that’s for sure.

God recently gave us a scripture that has really stuck with me.  It comes from Isaiah 43.  The opening verses of the chapter alone are enough to make you be glad that you are God’s.  He says that we are his children, to fear not, he’s always there.  Through it all.  Always there.  He continues to remind us the whole chapter that HE is God…always has been, always will be.  My favorite verse from this chapter (the ones that I’ve been dwelling on) is verse 19:

Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
19 For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Do you have that smirk smile on your face when you read that, thought so…I did too.  It has started; even when we don’t see it.  (But it would be nice to see it, right?  :D )

Still running the race,

Being a Person of your Word

Call it a rant.  Call it rambling.  Call it whatever you like.

Lately, I have seem to have attracted all kinds of people who cannot keep their word.  If I told you of these people, most of you would be surprised to know who they are.  People in high positions.  People being paid lots of money.  People with “prestige”.

I recently read an article in Worship Leader Magazine about a gang member who had recently given his life to Christ.  The article continued to tell of how after only a few months of being a Christian, he felt it “wasn’t the right thing for him”.  So, being the “go-getters”, the church pursued this young man after he denounced Christianity.  They asked him why after so little time as a Christian that he decided he wanted out.  His response absolutely blew me away.  He said that there was more love in a gang than there was in the church.  Ouch.  Is this the way that we portray Christ?  Picking and choosing the few we want to be in our group?  That’s not the way it’s meant to be!  We are to be Christians (which literally is interpreted as “little Christs”).  Our actions, words, emotions, feelings, etc. should reflect an image of Christ.  If we say we will do something, hold true to it, no matter how big or small.  No matter how much it hurts, call that person and tell them the truth.  In the big and the small, let’s reflect a true image of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

What have you done to show the world Christ today?

Auto-Tune for iPhone

app-storeDisclaimer: iPhone post below.

So with the Itunes App Store passing 2 Billion downloads, I thought I’d show off one app that looks pretty neat.  It is called “I am T-Pain“.  This app uses Auto-tune to make your voice sound like a rapper. Yo.  Apparently this auto-tune technique has been around some time, but until recently hadn’t been used alot. It wasn’t until the country song hating, video bashing, my dad is better than your dad, Kanye West started using it that people started to recognize the sound of Auto-Tune.  Go figure.  This app can make anyone sound like a star.  Did you get to watch the Presidental address about healthcare that was on TV about a month or so ago?  President Obama talked forever about universal healthcare and all that jazz.  The video below is the skinny of the healthcare address, plus some Auto-Tune.

United Breaks Guitars: Song Dos

Being that I’m currently in Canada (and Dave Carroll is Canadian)…

Remember me posting about United Airlines breaking Dave Carroll’s $3500 Taylor guitar?  If not, you can catch up on it here

Some time ago, I invested in Instrument Insurance for every piece of equipment that I own.  Maybe Dave should have thought about this!  My insurance policy is with a great company that specializes in insuring musical equipment.  They deal only with musical insurance and are pretty keen on the values, wear/tear, etc of musical equipment.    Beware of just adding a rider policy onto your homeowner’s policy, you might not get full retail/appraisal value.  You can read all about the company that I have my insurance with, Heritage Musical Insurance.  They are great people and the insurance is definitely cheap considering the amount of dough that I’ve got wrapped up in instruments.(and Heritage is unwritten by Traveler’s).

The victim of United’s ‘guitar toss’ game, Dave Carroll, has just released Song 2 of the 3 songs that he promised to United Airlines.  Check it out below, it’s pretty catchy.

Word to tha Youth MiniStarz

Where have I been???

Busy.  That’s right, busy.  That’s where I’ve been…at the intersection of Busy and Excited.  God continues to impress us and give us our heart’s desire.  It has been a great journey so far!

We’ve been enjoying God’s presence in Bentonville for a little over a month now, and man has it been great!  God is really doing a new, fresh thing in Bentonville!  What anointing!  What talent!  What great attitudes!  What great worshippers!  I thank God for showing up and healing hearts and lives in the services.  It’s not ever about us, but it’s always about him.

I hope that you can come experience God in Bentonville with us .  If you’re not able to come to Bentonville, check out this excerpt from our Sunday Evening Worship Service on 8-2-09.  I’ve been listening to it while typing this post, and the tears began to fall…I feel that God’s anointing was so fresh and soaked on this service and I know that it will continue to flow and minister to you as you listen.

(Setlist:  Awesome is the Lord Most High by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Cary Pierce, Jon Abel.  Forever by Chris Tomlin.  You are Good by Kari Jobe.  How Great is our God by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Ed Cash.)

Keep us in your prayers as we seek God’s face and will for our lives.  God is THE Orchestrator and continues to put things together that no one else can.  Thank you Lord for what you’ve done for us this far, but we thank you already for what you’re going to do in the future!

Flying with a guitar?

Are you soon going to be traveling by plane with your guitar?  You may want to think again!
