Auto-Tune for iPhone

So with the Itunes App Store passing 2 Billion downloads, I thought I’d show off one app that looks pretty neat.  It is called “I am T-Pain“.  This app uses Auto-tune to make your voice sound like a rapper. Yo.  Apparently this auto-tune technique has been around some time, but until recently hadn’t been used alot. It wasn’t until the country song hating, video bashing, my dad is better than your dad, Kanye West started using it that people started to recognize the sound of Auto-Tune.  Go figure.  This app can make anyone sound like a star.  Did you get to watch the Presidental address about healthcare that was on TV about a month or so ago?  President Obama talked forever about universal healthcare and all that jazz.  The video below is the skinny of the healthcare address, plus some Auto-Tune.

I am a (wanna be) Guitar Hero, period.

So Santa has already came to my house.  (He visits early every year.  Keeps telling me that I’m very good every year and shows up to hang out and give me my gifts.  Me and Claus’, we’re buds.)  Being the jolly old man soul that he is, he knew that I really wanted and needed the new Guitar Hero World Tour video game.  Right now I’m touring in Hong Kong, scraping up enough cash to hopefully get a gig in the USA.   Yeah, what is that about?   You have to play in these foreign countries before you can get a gig in the good ol’ US of A. 

Maybe that is a just  a kick in the reality when it comes to the music business.  Get big in another country first, then come to the US.  Maybe the US only lets in the greatest foreign musicians?!?  Apparently, I’m not rich enough to play in the USA yet.  You have to have at least $8000 earned before you play this one show in the US.  Hmmm…. how many non-US musicians have made it big here?

Addicted to Technology: Robot Guitar of The Future

Hi, my name is Mike and I’m a techie.  I have a confession.  I like to buy have to buy the newest and latest technological toys. 

Did you ever dream of something that was totally out of this world and then come to find out, somebody else gets rich off of “your” idea?  Yeah, me too!  I was changing the strings on one of my guitars back a few moons ago and thought that it would be awesome if the guitar would just tune itself.  So I go online only to find that my idea was already invented…and was about to be released to the public for the first time.  ( All of this happened a year ago!)

 

 

 

The Gibson Robot Guitar.  This thing is the most sophisticated guitar on the face of the planet.  You put the strings on it, pop the knob and within about 5 seconds, you have a totally tuned guitar.  Effortless.  One of the neatest things about the Robot Guitar is that it can instantly tune to alternate tunings, such as ‘Drop D’, ‘DADGAD’, ‘Open G’, and many others.  One of the not-so-neat things about it is it’s pretty much a hyped up Les Paul that costs about 2 1/2 times the normal Les Paul.  Still wondering how it works?  Check the video out.
